On the morning of 12 July 2021, the Ukrainian army shelled the northern outskirts of Gorlovka in the DPR (Donetsk People's Republic) with heavy artillery, damaging eight homes and a school. The shelling also damaged an electricity substation, leaving 5,500 homes without electricity.
At 5 a.m. on 12 July 2021, the Ukrainian military fired five 122-mm artillery shells at the village of Golmovsky, located on the northern outskirts of Gorlovka. The shelling, which targeted residential areas, caused a great deal of destruction to both housing and civilian infrastructure.
As Ukraine again turned a deaf ear when the DPR tried to use the coordination mechanism to stop the heavy artillery fire against Gorlovka, the People's Militia fired on the Ukrainian army positions from which the shelling was coming to stop it. The shelling killed one Ukrainian soldier and wounded another, according to the DPR People' s Militia.
The DPR People's Militia also shot down a Ukrainian army drone, which was to be used to correct the artillery fire against Golmovsky, as it attempted to cross the front line.
As I write this article, the Ukrainian army is unleashed on the south of the DPR. In just five minutes, the Ukrainian army fired 14 anti-tank rockets and 65 rounds of automatic grenade launchers at the villages of Kominternovo and Leninskoye.
As I feared, the Ukrainian army continues to escalate in the Donbass, increasingly using mortar shells and heavy artillery against residential areas in both the DPR and LPR. While, fortunately, the Ukrainian army's artillery fire against the outskirts of Gorlovka has not caused any civilian casualties, it could be different in the future if this trend continues.
And meanwhile, Paris, Berlin, Brussels and all the other lecturers on democracy and human rights are tacitly approving these war crimes by Ukraine through their silence.
